Walter J. Byrnes Jr. 81, of No. Providence and formerly of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, after a long illness. Walter was the former husband of Carol A. Byrnes, who was his principal care giver. He was born in Pawtucket a son of the late Walter J. Byrnes Sr. and Rita (Flanagan) Byrnes. He had been employed by the Pawtucket School Dept. for many years as a school bus driver and later as a courier. He loved cars, he could always be found at antique car shows, was a NASCAR enthusiast, loved camping and was a former member of the Attleboro Elks and a member of the Pawtucket FOPA.
Besides his former wife, he leaves a daughter, Jennifer Bento of Seekonk, two sons, Michael Byrnes and his wife 'Joey' of Henniker, NH, Bryan Byrnes and his wife Michelle of Swansea, MA. He also leaves a brother 'Billy' Byrnes of Florida, two sisters Beverly Bowen of Pawtucket and Marita Byrnes of Hawaii and four Grandchildren, Aaron, Caleb, Lillian and Shelby, several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joseph Byrnes and Mary Lou Murray.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, a Memorial Service will be held at a later date to be announced.
