On Sunday, December 20, 2020, Un Son Chong passed away at the age of 91. Un Son was born in a small town in South Korea and he was employed as a mechanical engineer for the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, and other international military branches. Un Son excelled in the arts including sewing, needlepoint, gardening and drawing. He attracted countless friends and was also extremely athletic—he was a boxer, wrestler, swimmer and soccer player. A love for cars and beautiful women, this ladykiller was admired by many and lusted by many more. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1988 and became a U.S. citizen shortly thereafter. Upon arrival, he took classes to further his education in American Sign Language. He worked as a teacher’s assistant and various other roles at Corliss Institute in Warren, RI. Although fully deaf for most of his life, it never slowed him down and he was highly sought after for his numerous skills.
He was our Un Son hero.
In the U.S. he is survived by one son and two daughters, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
