Ruth Ann “Diamond” Madsen of Providence passed away on December 18, 2024, at the age 56 at The Miriam Hospital in Providence. Diamond was a beloved and fierce advocate for her community, working tirelessly to find homes for the homeless and committed to making those around her have a better life.
She was born in St. Louis, Missouri and was the daughter of Coretta (Moment) and Bruce Madsen. As a child moved to Trumbell, Connecticut where she was raised and later graduated from Trumbull High School. Diamond was a talented figure skater, and she also practiced and competed in equestrian. Animals were a passion of hers and she had a magnificent heart. Diamond will forever be remembered for her selflessness and for her efforts working with the homeless. She left an imprint on her community and will forever be remembered as one of Providence’s very best.
In addition to her father Bruce Madsen, Diamond is survived by her children Davon Middleton of Bridgeport, CT and LaShaun Middleton of Hartford, CT. She was the proud grandmother of Jamal J. Middleton, Leilani S. Middleton and Thursday Arabella Thompson. Also surviving Diamond are her siblings Lorraine “Asia” Gonzalez of Providence, Tracy Cosby of Cranston, Stephanie “Blue” Wells of Providence, Joshua Madsen of Florida, Howard Crosby of Bridgeport, CT, Eric Wells of Woonsocket. She is reunited with her brother The Late Officer Jesse Madsen.
Visitation for Diamond to which family and friends are cordially invited will be held on Saturday January 4, 2025, from 9-10:30am in the Matthewson Street Church 134 Matthewson St. Providence. Arrangements are entrusted to the Charles Coelho Funeral Home of Central Falls.
