Rebecca Lerner Obituary

Rebecca Alice Lerner of Central Falls, RI passed away unexpectedly in her apartment on Saturday, April 4th, 2026, at the age of 57. She was born in Woonsocket, RI on November 13, 1968, daughter of Barbara (Gonyea) Orlando and the late John Orlando.

Rebecca attended Burrillville High School. She worked for several years as a food service assistant and after school coordinator at Elizabeth Baldwin Elementary School, M. Virginia Cunningham School, the Rhode Island's Child Opportunity Zone (COZ), and participated for many years in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Pawtucket.

Rebecca was an outgoing, joyful, and loving mother, daughter, and friend. She was an advocate for several environmental and human rights causes. She loved people and had an empathetic heart for those in need. She selflessly served the less fortunate members of her community by delivering food from the food pantry to others, giving money to the homeless, donating to various charities, and caring for those around her with empathy, compassion, and humility.

Rebecca was a strong, free-spirited, resilient woman, who embraced her Italian and Native American heritage and connected spiritually with nature. She loved her city, Central Falls, and her state, Rhode Island. She had a love for all animals, especially cats. She enjoyed trying different foods, meeting people of different cultures and beliefs, reading, and the simple things in life. Rebecca had a deep, spiritual affinity for the beach.

Rebecca Alice Lerner will be dearly missed by many friends and family.

She leaves behind her children, Destinee Fausey of Illinois, and Samantha Lerner of Pawtucket, of whom she spoke with great pride, as well as a proud mother-in-law of Harrison Fausey and Joseph Felion, and a proud grandmother of Suleiman and Sinai Fausey.

Rebecca is survived by her mother, Barbara Orlando of Pascoag, two sisters, Melanie Rezendes of Harrisville and Lori Martin of Ireland, niece, KaSondra Vanasse of Harrisville, brother-in-laws, Mario Rezendes of Harrisville, Brian Lerner of California, and Scott Lerner of Nevada, sister-in-laws, Celia Lerner of California and Patricia Lerner of Nevada, and nephews, Kyle and Tristan Lerner of California. She is also survived by her ex-husband, Seth Lerner of Nevada, to whom she was married for 18 years.

Her close family will have a small private celebration of life ceremony. May she rest in peace
