Ravi Subramanian Rahul

Ravi Subramanian Rahul of Exeter, RI, passed away Friday November 20, in a car accident. He was 41

He was the eldest child of Gowri Ravi and Ravi Ramamurthy. Born in Chennai, India; he grew up in Pune. He lost his mother at a young age and his aunt Padma Devacharan became his childhood confidant  and his grandmother Saraswati Ramamurthy became his loving caregiver. After graduating from St. Vincent's High School in Pune, Rahul attended Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, where he graduated with a bachelor's in electronics engineering in 2000. In 2001, he came to the United States to pursue an education in Colorado State University, where he received a master's in electrical engineering in 2004 and a Master of Business Administration in 2012.

Rahul first met his wife, Falguni, in India in 2003. Originally family friends and occasional adversaries, they slowly realized their love for each other and were engaged in 2007 and married in 2008.  That year , Falguni joined Rahul in Fort Collins, Colorado, where they welcomed their son Ved, in 2011, and their daughter, Nandini, in 2015. 

The family moved to Rhode Island in 2016, where Rahul worked as an engineer. Rahul loved riding his bike across New England countryside and exploring his new home across the many hiking trails Rhode Island has to offer.

An avid sports fan, he had a favorite team in almost every sport. He was a film lover and enjoyed sharing his love of cinema with his family. He had a love of all cuisine and always willing to try anything at least once. Despite his sometimes picky exterior, he was a kind soul and always found joy in entertaining and caring for children.

In 2020, Rahul achieved what had been his goal since he first came to America 19 years earlier, becoming a U.S. Citizen and proudly voting in his first U.S. election. In death, Rahul will provide for others by being a tissue donor.

Rahul is survived by his loving wife Falguni; children Ved and Nandini; his sister, Nikita Srinivasan, brother-in-law, Vijay Sirinvasan and niece, Ananya; uncles AD Kumaraswamy, Babu Narayan and Suresh Ramamurthi; aunt Indira Kumaraswamy, cousins Vikram, Soumy, Sonya and Tanya; aunt Padma; father-in-law Arvind Shah; sister and brother-in-law Mansi and Aouronee Das and niece Veera Das; and the extended Nathalal Manilal and Keepapandal families. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
