Ralph Fletcher Sr. Obituary

It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Ralph Louis Fletcher, Sr., 91, of Pawtucket, RI.  Ralph passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 1, 2020.  He was the beloved husband of Katherine Ann (McGloin) Fletcher for 65 years.

Born February 5th, 1929 in Warwick, Rhode Island, Ralph was the son of the late Ernest Fletcher and the late Fanny (Superneau) Fletcher of Warwick, Rhode Island.

He served in both the Army (1947-1948) and the Marines (1951-1954) and was a Korean War veteran.   He received three service medals: Korean Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.

He met his penpal, Katherine McGloin, and quickly realized they had a lot in common.  Once he returned from Korea, they met in person and married in 1955.  They built a family together, traveling and creating beautiful memories.

Ralph worked as a service technician for many years at Criss Cadillac and later Herb Chambers Cadillac in Providence.  Ralph had five brothers, Ernest “June” Fletcher, Edward Fletcher, Harold Fletcher, Lenny Fletcher and Frank Fletcher, all of whom have predeceased him.

Ralph was known as a gentle soul who was the salt of the earth.  He was generous with his time and helped his children and a number of their friends with various projects and car repairs.  He enjoyed an occasional beer with family at holiday cookouts and watching Patriots games.  He was a regular fan of the PawSox.

He will forever be cherished by his daughter Ann Fletcher of Attleboro, MA and her husband, Barry Myers, his youngest daughter Christine (Fletcher) Leca of Pawtucket, RI, as well as his son, Ralph L. Fletcher, Jr. also of Pawtucket.  He leaves behind his granddaughter, Elissa Leca and great-granddaughter, Lila Leca, both of Pawtucket.

A Committal with Military Honors will be held at the VA Cemetery in Exeter, RI on Friday, October 9, 2020 at 11:30 AM.  In addition, a celebration of Ralph’s life will be planned for some time in the future.
