Marie Sawyer a long-time resident of Central Falls passed away peacefully on the morning of August 10, 2025 under the care of Philip Hulitar-Hope Hospice Center in Providence. She was 100 years old. Marie was born in Pawtucket on December 19, 1924, daughter of the late Clara (Gagne) and Joseph Moreau.
Ms. Sawyer was raised and educated in Pawtucket. She later moved to Central Falls, the city she would call home for several faith-filled and happy years. Marie was a devote Catholic, serving as a Eucharistic Minister at Notre Dame Parish on Broad St. in Central Falls. With a strong work ethic, Ms. Sawyer was a committed employee of Texas Instruments in Attleboro, Massachusetts for several years, working as an Assembler..
Marie was a natural caregiver and nurturer. She felt a need to give back and for many years served as a volunteer at Pawtucket Memorial Hospital, a vocation she was proud to fulfill. Her 100 years are a century filled with faith in God, commitment to service and a strong and steady hand that always guided in right direction.
Marie Sawyer is survived by her children; Robert Sawyer, Sr. of North Attleboro, MA, Margarite Lindqvist of Mendon, VT, Theresa Cardinal of Smithfield and George Sawyer. She was a proud grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. In addition to her parents she is reunited with her sisters, the late Cecile Sawyer, Theresa Watts and Claire Robitaille.
Committal Services to which relatives and friends are cordially to attend will be held on Saturday August 16th at 10am in the chapel in Notre Dame Cemetery 359 Dagget Ave. Pawtucket. Arrangements entrusted to the Charles Coelho Funeral Home of Central Falls, RI.
