Maria Antonieta Reyes

Maria A. Reyes of Attleboro, Massachusetts passed away following a brief illness on the evening of Friday May 17, 2024 under the care of Philip Hulitar-Hope Hospice in Providence.  Ms. Reyes was 98 years old.  She was born in San Vincente, El Salvador on September 15, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Marcel Vela and Luz Ortiz.  

Ms. Reyes was a hardworking, kind woman.  She operated her own mini mart in El Salvador selling items such as newspapers, cigarettes, food and drinks.  Ms. Reyes took on the role of mother to her nephew William, whom she raised from his infancy.  The two remained like mother and son until the day she passed away.  Maria was a strong woman, as she persevered through becoming blind at the age of 55.  She never lost her vigor or her kindness even through this difficulty. 

Maria Antonieta Reyes is survived by her nephew William and his loving wife of Attleboro, MA.  She leaves behind her grandnieces; Karen Ortiz, Katherine Ortiz and Eunice Ortiz.  Ms. Reyes is also survived by her great grandnieces; Ashia Ortiz, Dominic Ortiz, Kimberly Ortiz and Zoe Ortiz. 

Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday May 23rd from 9-11am in the Charles Coelho Funeral Home 151 Cross St. Central Falls, RI.  A funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home at 11am.  Committal will follow in Woodlawn-North Purchase Cemetery in Attleboro, MA.
