Maria Vaz Moreira

Maria Vaz Moreira 99 of Central Falls passed away on the evening of May 8, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.  She was the wife of the late Ezach Dos Santos Cardoso. 

Maria was born on May 15, 1926 in Praia, Cape Verde.  She made a living as a nanny and housekeeper in addition to her duties as a homemaker and raising her own family.  After coming to the United States, Maria and her family lived in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston for several years before settling in Rhode Island.. 

Ms. Moreira was a well- known and well-liked member of the community.  She was a great person who was deeply committed to her children and grandchildren.  She also loved dancing to Jazz and Hip Hop. 

Maria Vaz Moreira is survived by her children Josue Antonio Lopes Moreira and maria Moreira.  She was the proud grandmother of Alex, Jorge, Jovanni and Lenira Patrica.  Beloved great grandmother of Nina, Derrick, Jayden and “Baby G”. 

Visiting Hours to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend will be held from 9-11am on Friday May 15th in the Charles Coelho Funeral Home 151 Cross St. Central Falls, RI.  A funeral service will be celebrated at 11am in the funeral home.  Burial will be held in Walnut Hills Cemetery 200 Armistice Blvd. in Pawtucket.
