Maria Lizotte Obituary

Maria Lizotte, 77, of Smithfield, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, at the Philip Hulitar Hope Hospice Center in Providence, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on July 27, 1948, in Puerto Rico, Maria was the beloved daughter of the late Victor and Lola Rivera. As a child, she moved with her family to Manhattan, New York, where she was raised and educated. Maria possessed a natural gift for helping others and dedicated much of her life to serving her community.

A woman of deep faith and unwavering strength, Maria held her relationship with God close to her heart. She shared her faith generously, hosting Bible studies to teach, encourage, and guide others in their spiritual journeys.

Professionally, Maria served as an interpreter for the Central Falls Police Department and the Public Defender’s Office, where her compassion, dedication, and ability to bridge language barriers made a meaningful difference in the lives of many.

Maria will be remembered for her strong faith, kind heart, generous spirit, and the love she shared with her family and friends. Her legacy of service, devotion, and compassion will live on in all who knew and loved her.

Maria is survived by her loving children, Mario Nunez, Eric Nunez, and Israel Nunez, as well as her adopted daughter, Alyssa Varella. She was a devoted and proud grandmother to Brittany Nunez, Andrew Nunez, Brooke Nunez, Jade Nunez, Tiara Nunez, Brae Nunez, and Elishua Nunez.

Maria was also the cherished great-grandmother of Milani Nunez, McKenzie Nunez, Faith Nunez, Elizabeth Nunez, Harmony Nunez, Arianna Gonzalez, Kendyn Nunez, Farrah Nunez, Jayden Nunez, Arina Nunez, Arabella Nunez, Darrel Moavero, Jhasan-Lee Nunez, and Kaius Nunez. She was further blessed to become a great-great-grandmother to Angel Luis Nunez Perez.

Maria's greatest joy was her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion that will continue through the generations she cherished so deeply.

Calling Hours to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend will be held on Friday June 26 from 6-9pm in the Charles Coelho Funeral Home 151 Cross St. Central Falls, RI.
