Maria J. Pires 95 of Pawtucket passed away peacefully under the care of Lynn Health Center in East Providence. She was the wife of the late Manuel Pires. Born on August 16, 1926 in Brava, Cape Verde, Maria was the daughter of the late Manuel and Eugenia Jose Andrade. Following her move to Pawtucket, she worked for the Monet Jewelry Co. as an assembler for 25 years. She will be forever remembered for having a great sense of humor, being so generous and for her love of coffee. Maria also enjoyed sewing.
Family was the most important thing to Mrs. Pires. She was the loving mother of Joaquim Pires of Pawtucket and the late Viola Pires. Maria was the sister of Maria Manuel Andrade and Edith Rodrigues of California and she is reunited with the sister the late Maria Rosa Andrade and her brother the late Jose P. Andrade. Maria was the loving grandmother of Joaquim Pires, Jr. of East Providence and the great grandmother of Georgia Andrews of Warren and Jayceon Monterio of Lincoln. She was the beloved auntie of Maria DePina and Maria King. Mrs. Pires love extended greatly to Stacey Monterio of Lincoln and to her dear friends Renee Rose and Virginia Diaz.
Calling Hours will be held on the morning of March 21st from 9-11am in The Coelho Home 151 Cross St. Central Falls. A funeral service will be celebrated at 11am in the home followed by burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Daggett Ave. in Pawtucket.
