Luis C. Velasguez Palacio, a resident of Central Falls passed away on June 16, 2026 at The Miriam Hospital in Providence. He was 62 years old. He was the devoted husband of Maribel Ruiz Estrada.
Luis was born in Medellin, Colombia on August 17, 1963, son of Aicardo Velasguez and Angela Palacio. He immigrated to Rhode Island in 1986 and later moved to Houstin Texas in the 1990s. After living in Houston for several years he returned to Rhode Island, settling in Central Falls.
Soccer was a passion of Luis’ and he was an excellent player in his own right, playing at the professional level. He was an intelligent man who enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. Helping people was something that Mr. Velasquez did often, as he was a pleasant man and a hard worker. Luis worked as a machine mechanic for local wire companies.
In addition to his wife, Luis C. Velasquez Palacio is survived by his son David Velasquez of California. He was the proud grandfather of Valkerie Velasquez and Jelaisha Velasquez.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday June 23rd at 10am in St. John the Baptist Parish 69 Quincy Ave. in Pawtucket. There are no public Calling Hours. Burial will be private. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Charles Coelho Funeral Home 151 Cross St. Central Falls, RI.

Luis nació en Medellín, Colombia, el 17 de agosto de 1963, hijo de Aicardo Velásguez y Ángela Palacio. Emigró a Rhode Island en 1986 y más tarde se trasladó a Houstin, Texas, en los años 90. Tras vivir varios años en Houston, regresó a Rhode Island, estableciéndose en Central Falls.
El fútbol era una pasión para Luis y él era un excelente jugador por derecho propio, jugando a nivel profesional. Era un hombre inteligente que disfrutaba leyendo y haciendo crucigramas. Ayudar a la gente era algo que el señor Velázquez hacía a menudo, ya que era un hombre agradable y trabajador. Luis trabajó como mecánico de máquinas para empresas locales de cables.
Además de su esposa, Luis C. Velázquez Palacio deja en vida a su hijo David Velázquez, de California. Fue el orgulloso abuelo de Valkerie Velázquez y Jelaisha Velásquez.
Se celebrará una misa de funeral cristiano el martes 23 de junio a las 10:00 en la parroquia de San Juan Bautista, 69 Quincy Ave., en Pawtucket. No hay horas de visita públicas. El entierro será privado. Los arreglos están bajo el cuidado y dirección de la funeraria Charles Coelho, 151 Cross St. Central Falls, RI.
