Linda Gay (Mutlow) Smith

Linda Gay (Mutlow) Smith 75 of Pawtucket passed away peacefully at Philip Hulitar Hope Hospice in Providence on February 20, 2023.  Linda was the daughter of the late Walter L. and Rose (Highland) Mutlow.  She was born in Mansfield, Massachusetts on March 26, 1947.

Ms. Smith’s passion was animals which took her into the pet shop business.  Linda co-owned a dog grooming and pet shop with her former husband and eternal best friend Larry while they resided in Arizona.  She loved all animals, especially her pet monkey. 

For many Linda had the good fortune of wintering in Florida and summering in North Conway, NH.  Even when things were so fortunate, Ms. Smith showed a cast iron resolve and spirit.  After suffering a stroke 12 years ago, Linda led by example of how to preserve despite obstacles.  Perseverance was just one of her many great qualities. 

Linda is survived by her beloved daughter Kerriann McCaffrey and her husband Tom of Pawtucket.  She is reunited with her son, the late Joshua Smith.  Ms. Smith was the proud grandmother of Matthew McCaffrey, Ryan McCaffrey, Tyler McCaffrey, Ashely Smith and Madison Smith.  She was the great grandmother of Arianna Dudley Smith and Autumn McCaffrey.  She was the sister of Walter Mutlow, Deborah Bouchard and the late Karen Fisler.  Linda is also survived by her former husband and his wife, Lawrence “Larry” and Catherine Smith, who are honored to be Linda’s best friends.

Private Cremation will take place in Wester Hills Crematory in Cranston.  Arrangements are under the care of the The Coelho Home – Funeral Directors of Central Falls.
