John Walsh Obituary

John Michael “Mike” Walsh of Duxbury formerly of Hanover passed away April 12, 2023 at the VA Hospital-Hospice Unit in Brockton.  He was the beloved husband of Patricia “Patti” (Rothwell) Walsh.

Mike was born in Lowell and was the son of the late John J. and Mary R. (Holmes) Walsh.  An especially gifted football player, Mike starred for the Hanover High School football team in the late 1960s. After graduating from Hanover, Mike played for and graduated from Bridgton Academy and went on to attend and play for West Texas State University. He then served our country, honorably in the United States Marine Corps.  Mr. Walsh went on to spend his career with the U.S. Postal Service.

Sports were a large part of Mike’s life.  In addition to being a talented athlete himself, he enjoyed every moment of his son Patrick’s sports career and most importantly, the people whom he met along that journey.  He was a loyal and educated fan of the Boston Bruins, the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.

In addition to his wife Patty, Mike is survived by his son Patrick J. “P.J.” Walsh and his wife Christal of Rockland.  He was the proud grandfather of Morgan and Madison Walsh.  Mr. Walsh is reunited with his brother, the late Barry Walsh and his sister the late Maura Walsh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9am on Saturday April 22nd at St. Mary's Catholic Church 392 Hanover St. Hanover, MA.  Interment in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Friday May 12th at 10:15am.  Arrangements are under the care of the R.W. Chatigny-Charles Coelho Funeral Home of Central Falls, RI. In lieu of flowers donations in Mike's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 200 Executive Blvd S #4b Southington, CT 06489.
