John William Monahan Jr.

John William Monahan, Jr. “Big John” 68 of Central Falls, RI, formerly of Brockton, MA passed away peacefully at his home on May 21st after a short battle with cancer.  He was the beloved husband of Susann (Stern) Monahan.  They spent 45 years together.  John was born in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada (where his love for hockey began) before moving to South Boston, MA and eventually moved to Brockton, MA where he was raised by his late parents, John William Monahan, Sr. and Olga (Kyryluk) Monahan.

He was an avid fan of the Boston Bruins and enjoyed playing hockey, gardening, listening to music, spending time with his family and his cat, Bubba.

He leaves behind his two children, Kristy Jacobson and her husband Eric of Rehoboth, MA and John William Monahan III of Central Falls.  He was the proud grandfather of Brianna and Keylia Jacobson, both of Rehoboth, MA.  John is also survived by his brothers, Garry Monahan of Plymouth, MA, his sister-in-law Denise Monahan of Plymouth, MA, Joey Monahan and his wife Janice of East Bridgewater and Robbie Monahan and his wife Jen of Plymouth.  Mr. Monahan was the uncle of Joey, Mikey, Garry, Ryan, Maeve, Ronan and Paisley.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.  Arrangements entrusted to the Charles Coelho Funeral Home of Central Falls, RI.
