On Saturday November 11, 2023, Humberto Hincapié passed away at Rhode Island Hospital from a stroke and brain aneurysm. He was surrounded by his 9 siblings and many nieces and nephews. He was 71 years old.
Humberto is the son of the late Arturo Hincapié and Teresa Ortíz who immigrated from Medellín, Colombia to Central Falls, Rhode Island to work in the textile factories with the hopes of giving their 10 childen a better life. Humberto arrived in the U.S. in 1971 and became a naturalized citizen.
He graduated from Providence College where he majored in health information systems. Afterwards, he worked at Rhode Island Hospital medical records department. After 22 years of dedicated service there, he retired in September 2021.
Humberto loved nature, the ocean, and especially fishing. He was a very service-oriented person who touched many people’s lives. He lived a vibrant life, was full of joy, and had a generous and compassionate heart. He loved music, dancing, and gardening.
He is survived by his 9 siblings: Ruben, Martha, Carlos, Marina, Patricia, Gloria, Rose, Luis, and Marielena. While Humberto didn’t have any children of his own, he had an unconditional love for his 12 nieces and nephews, and 11 grandnieces and grandnephews. He also leaves behind his life partner, Linda Lapierre, who he lived with in Pawtucket, RI. He also enjoyed a loving relationship with her family who he learned to play golf with and traveled together.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on TUESDAY, November 14th in Holy Spirit Parish Church, Dexter Street Central Falls. Relatives and friends are respectfully welcome to attend. Arrangements by The Coelho Home, Central Falls.
