Gustavo Valcarcel , a resident of Rumford passed away peacefully on the evening of December 1, 2022 at Philip Hulitar Hope Hospice in Providence. Mr. Varcarcel was 85 years old. He was born in Socha, Colombia on June 5, 1937. Gustavo was the son of the late Ignacio and Alejandrina Valcarcel.
While still living in Colombia, Gustavo completed college and later worked as a mine engineer. He worked as a wire maker for General Cable in Lincoln. His enjoyment of being around people would also bring him into the sales world. Mr. Valcarcel worked as a salesman for several stores such as Lord and Taylor.
Gustavo enjoyed his life and was an extremely happy man. He was spirited with his opinions and old fashion in his traditional ways. Cigarettes, his social life and eating brought great joy to Mr. Valcarcel. He loved Mexican music and will always be remembered as a committed family man as he loved his children and grandchildren so much.
Mr. Valcarcel is survived by his wife Cielo Hernandez of Pawtucket. He was the beloved father of Martha Valcarcel, Fernando Varcarcel and his wife Diyo and Gustavo Valcarcel. Gustavo was the proud grandfather of Javy and his wife Meghan, Stephanie, Christina, Lucas and the late Tony. He is survived by his sisters; Angela, Margoth and Lucila and reunited with his sisters; the late Blanca, Filomena, Paulina and Rosita. Gustavo is also survived by the mother of his children, "Polly".
A Memorial Service will be celebrated with Catholic prayers at 10am on Saturday December 10th in The Coelho Home 151 Cross St. Central Falls, RI 02863. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
