George O. Hevey, 71, of No. Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, after an illness. He was the beloved companion of Helene M. Gauthier. George was born in Pawtucket, RI a son of the late Russell and Jeannette A. (Goulet) Hevey. He resided in the Quinnville section of Lincoln until moving to Woonsocket as a young man. He was a graduate of Bristol Agricultural High School in Dighton, MA. After his wife's passing he later moved to Alabama with his daughter Donna. After his daughters sudden passing he moved back to the area 11 years ago and settled in No. Attleboro. George had been employed as a diesel mechanic for many years. He later owned and operated the Murat Bait & Tackle of No. Attleboro for many years, where he was a custom fishing rod maker. He was a member of the West Bay Anglers and had been well known in the surf fishing circuit.
Besides his Companion, he leaves a daughter, Lee-Ann Quinn of Warwick, a step-daughter Margaret Edwards of Alabama, his brother Henry Hevey of Hamilton, NJ, seven Grandchildren and three Great Grandchildren.
He was the husband of the late Frances A. (Decourcey) Hevey, the father of the late Donna L. Hevey and the brother of the late Russell Hevey.
His Funeral will be held, MONDAY at 10 AM from the Coelho Home in Central Falls, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, Pine St. Pawtucket at 11:30AM. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, West Wrentham Road, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial donations may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association.
