George Eastwood Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of George Guy Eastwood, a man whose presence could light up a room and whose enthusiasm for life was truly unmatched. George, lovingly known as "G-Pop," left this world surrounded by love, memories, and the echoes of countless stories he so passionately told.

Born on June 5, 1954, to the late George and Jane Eastwood, he lived a life full of laughter, love, and unwavering support for those he held dear. Growing up on the racetrack, George traveled up and down the east coast working with his dad and collecting a lifetime of stories. His family landed in Lincoln and then he later moved to Pawtucket when he had his growing family. A proud graduate of LaSalle Academy’s Class of 1972, he carried his school spirit into every aspect of his life. His passions were many—horses, horse racing, the New York Giants, Notre Dame football, PC basketball, and the number 5 — but nothing compared to his love for his family. He would hop in the car and drive around the world to bring anyone anywhere or visit someone on a whim.

G-Pop was more than a grandfather; he was a cheerleader and the absolute biggest supporter of his grandchildren’s sporting events, competitions, concerts, and plays. "#1 Fan" wasn’t just a title—it was who he was. He was there, front and center, with boundless energy, a booming voice, and a heart full of pride. His love and support extended beyond his own family, earning him the cherished role of "G-Pop" to so many of his grandchildren’s friends and families.

George leaves behind Valerie Eastwood and their four children: Andrea Paiva (North Smithfield) and her husband Jeffrey, George Eastwood (Cumberland), Adam Eastwood (North Smithfield), and Alicia Eastwood (Putnam). His legacy lives on through his ten adored grandchildren—Michael Paiva, Annie Paiva, Parker Abrantes, Emma Paiva, Dakota Abrantes, Morgan Paiva, River Abrantes, Lily Eastwood, Ava Eastwood, and Violet Eastwood—as well as his treasured great-grandson, Braxton Paiva. He also leaves behind his big lug of a dog Lou, more affectionately known by his formal name Louis when behind closed doors.

He is also survived by his siblings, Linda Hammell of Florida and Scott Eastwood of Pawtucket. He was predeceased by his brother, James (JT) Eastwood. George also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who will deeply miss his wild enthusiasm, endless talking, and larger-than-life personality.

A man of boundless warmth and energy, George never met a stranger who didn’t become a friend. His legendary storytelling, his booming cheers from the sidelines, and his ability to make everyone feel like family will be deeply missed. Though he may no longer be physically present, his spirit will live on in the laughter, the stories, and the love he so freely gave.

Calling hours to honor George’s incredible life will be held at Charles Coelho Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 19th, from 5-8pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor his memory by cheering a little louder at a game, telling a great story, or simply embracing the joy of life—just as he always did.

Rest easy, G-Pop. We’ll keep the stories going for you. 143
