Doris M. (Oxx) Moniz of Pawtucket passed away at Rhode Island Hospital on January 16, 2025, following a brief illness. Mrs. Moniz was 75 years old. She was the wife of the late Henry J. Moniz, Sr., who passed away on February 3, 2000.
Doris was born in Providence, RI on November 15, 1949, daughter of the late Doris E. (Chase) and Harry H. Oxx, Sr. She was a woman who was full of love but, she would tell you like it is and be straight to the point with people. Mrs. Moniz looked after everyone and for that reason was dubbed, “The Neighborhood Grandma”. Cooking came as a natural talent to Doris. Her greatest talent was as a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Doris was committed to her family, that commitment shined brightest when she cared for her son, the late Antony Joseph Moniz, through his battle with MD until his passing on November 28, 1994.
Despite suffering the tremendous losses of her son and husband, Doris remained the strength and fire of her beloved family. She still found joy in her family and her dogs, Shaggy and Scooby. Mrs. Moniz loved Dunkin Donuts coffee and catching episodes of “Days of Our Lives” and “The Price is Right”.
Doris Marion (Oxx) Moniz was one of a kind and she left an imprint on those she loved most that will be carried with them forever.
Doris Moniz is reunited with her husband, the late Henry J. Moniz, Sr. and her cherished son, the late Anthony J. Moniz. Doris is survived by her daughter Melissa Moniz Paolello and her husband Norman of E. Providence. She was the proud grandmother of Marcus A. Moniz, Malcum R. Moniz, Marissa C. Moniz, and Ismael W. DeJesus, Jr aka "Boogie" and his husband Brandon. Doris and her grandson, "Boogie" shared a special bond. She was the great grandmother of Jamarian Moniz, Amare Moniz, Jhavia Moniz and Jhazi Moniz. Doris is also survived by her siblings Steven Oxx, Beatrice Climacosa, Hope Oxx and Victoria Lavimoder. Mrs. Moniz was the beloved aunt of Raymond Oxx. She was predeceased by 6 brothers and 7 sisters.
