Diane Sendley Obituary

Diane Everett Sendley, 82, passed away peacefully with family by her side on August 7, 2025 at Crystal Lake Rehabilitation & Care Center in Pascoag, RI, after bravely battling health issues for the past 2 years, and never complaining about her condition.

Diane was the devoted wife of John F. Sendley for 54 years until his death in 2018.  They raised their family and spent most of their lives as residents of Cumberland, RI.    She was the loving mother of John S. Sendley, and his wife Sylvia, of Andover, CT, and Michael E. Sendley, and his wife Heather, of Glocester, RI; and the sweetest grandmother to her grandchildren, Jake, Max, Alexa and Brooke, and step-grandchildren, Garet Bender and Britney Siciliano.

In addition to her children and grandchildren, Diane leaves her sister, Johanne Cabral, and sister-in-law, Lois Keenan, and her husband James, all of Cumberland, RI, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family in Canada.  She was predeceased by her mother, Yvette (Beauregard) Everett, her father, G. Harold Everett, and her sister Louise J. Fanion.  Diane was very social and had a large and wonderful group of friends that she loved going out with and spending time with.

Diane was born in Sherbrooke, Canada and moved to the U.S. at 12 years old.  She graduated Notre Dame High School in Central Falls, RI at 16 years old, despite having just recently learned the English language.  She began her working career as a secretary, including at Corning Glass Works in Central Falls, RI, where she met her beloved husband, John.  She worked her way into banking at Woonsocket Institution for Savings, later Eastland Bank, and then at the FDIC and Blue Cross/ Blue Shield of RI, before ending her career as Vice President and Director of Compliance at BankNewport, retiring in 2008.  She spent many years thereafter lovingly caring for her husband John who battled a long illness at home.  In addition, she was a past president of the local chapter of the Business and Professional Women’s Association and she obtained several certifications in the field of regulatory compliance.

Diane loved spending time with her family and was always very kind, caring and dignified.  She will be greatly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend will be held on Friday August 22nd at 10am in St. Eugene's Catholic Church 1251 Putnam Pike Chepachet, RI 02814.  Diane's family will greet relatives and friends beginning at 9am in the church.  Interment will follow at 1:30pm in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery 301 South County Trail in Exeter, RI.
