Carmen Quinones 91 of Providence formerly of Rockaway, Queens, New York City passed away on the afternoon of October 1, 2025, surrounded by several members of her loving family at the Philip Hulitar Hope Hospice Center in Providence. Carmen was born on March 3, 1934, in Yauco, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Abbita Garcia and Juan Cintron. Mrs. Quinones is at long last reunited with her husband, the late Gilberto Quinones.
Carmen moved to New York City in 1952, from Puerto Rico and later settled in Rhode Island. She was a kind woman who treated those who she didn’t know as family, setting an example to her children to do the same. She was an exceptional mother and had a deep devotion to God. Mrs. Quinones had a natural and unrelenting work ethic as a mom and homemaker. This work ethic extended to her time working in a laundromat and as a jewelry maker for Providence Metallizers.
The world has lost a great woman but, that great woman’s example lives on.
Mrs. Quinones was the adored mother of David Diaz of California, Carmen Webb of Central Falls, Patricia Navaez of Central Falls, Martha Quinones of Pawtucket, Janet Desjardin of Pawtucket, Robert Diaz, Barner Diaz and David Quinones. She was a proud grandmother of 14, a beloved great grandmother of 24 and is also survived by 1 great great grandchild, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Gilberto and her parents, Carmen is reunited with her 6 siblings.
Visiting Hours to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend will be held on Monday October 6th from 4-7pm in the Charles Coelho Funeral Home 151 Cross St. Central Falls, RI. A funeral service will be celebrated beginning at 6pm. Interment will be held Friday October 10th at a time to be announced in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, RI.
