Beatriz Merced Vazquez

Beatriz Merced Vazquez of Providence passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, at her home.  She was 64 years old.

Beatriz was born on February 3, 1961, in Puerto Rico and was the daughter of the late Blanca Vargas and Armando Merced. Ms. Merced lived in Kansas City, Kansas before moving to Rhode Island. Beatriz resided in Central Falls for several years before moving to Providence. She was a beautiful woman who carried a zest for life. 

Ms. Merced is survived by her children; Beatriz Rivera- Joyal and her husband Ernest of Woonsocket, David Cruz and his significant other Esther Miranda of Pawtucket, Jessica Merced of Providence, Jesus Merced and his fiancée Tammy of Pawtucket, Jose Mateo-Merced of Woonsocket and Blanca Goetz Johnson and her husband Doug of Johnson.  She was a grandmother of 18 and a great grandmother of 3.  She was the sister of Migdalia Torres of Pawtucket, Carmen Merced of Pawtucket, Miguel Merced of Puerto Rico, Victor Vazques of Puerto Rico and Arnaldo Merced of the Dominican Republic.  She is also survived by her longtime partner, Jose Mateo of Pawtucket.
