Angel Sergio Garcia, 86, passed away in the early hours of Sunday, March 15, 2026, but his life will continue to be celebrated.
Born on April 11, 1939, in Montevideo, Uruguay, Angel married his childhood sweetheart, Maria Carmen Coirollo, on December 11, 1961, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted over 64 years. To escape the political regime and raise their family in a safer place, they began the process of immigrating to the United States. Together, they raised their two children, Carmen Garcia and Gerard Garcia. To his “favorite daughter,” as he used to call her, he was not only the best father but, also set the highest standard for what it means to be a man, a husband, and a father. Angel was the definition of a devoted family man. His dedication to his wife and children was exceptional. He cherished time with loved ones, especially during summers spent traveling and camping. In later years, he and his wife enjoyed trips to Spain, Portugal, and Naples, Florida.
He built a respected career in human resources and served as Personnel Director for the City of Pawtucket, where he was known for his integrity and steady leadership. A man of principle, Angel earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and community members alike, leaving a lasting impact through his work and character. In recent years, Angel courageously faced the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Surrounded by the love of his family, it was a battle they faced together.
Angel leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and integrity. To his wife, children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him, he will be remembered as a humble and honorable man who carried himself with a quiet strength reserved for few. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no wake or formal service. Those who wish to honor his memory may consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
