Americo " Mac" Carvalho, 98, a longtime resident of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully on Christmas morning after an illness. He was the beloved husband of Lillian (Nobrega) Carvalho and had celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary last month. He was born in New Bedford, MA, a son of the late Antonio and Preciosa Anjos Carvalho and has lived in Pawtucket most of his life. He and his wife were parishioners of St. Teresa's Church, Pawtucket.
He was a proud Navy veteran of WW II and the Korean War. Americo, known to many as "Mac" had been employed as a salesman at the former Saltzman's Men's Stores of Pawtucket for more than 30 years, retiring in the late 80's.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Christine Gillooly of West Warwick & Pawtucket and Nancy Noddings and her husband Albert of Greenacres, Florida, six Grandchildren Casey, Jade, Susan, Sean, Brandon and Travis and 12 Great Grandchildren. He was the uncle of Richard and Armand Gloria, Mitchell Carvalho, Lesley Alexander and Bethany Arnold. He was the brother of the late Roger Carvalho and Frances Gloria.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday in St. Teresa's Church, Newport Avenue Pawtucket at 10:30AM, burial with Military Honors will follow in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery, Pawtucket.
Social distancing must be observed and face masks must worn.
