Ronald “Red” E. Ames, passed away Saturday at The Golden Living Center Garden Place, after a battle with lung disease. He was the devoted companion of Judy (Yabroudy) Pytka for the last 28 years. Red was born in Pawtucket, a son of the late George E. and Ruth (Bardsley) Fanning. He attended Pawtucket schools and received an Associates Degree in Applied Sciences from R.I. Jr. College. Red served 4 years in the US Navy and was discharged in December 1961. He had been employed as the lead senior chemistry tech for the Polaroid Corp. for several years before retiring. Red was an avid golfer, a historian and most of all an easy going kind man.
Besides his companion, and her family, he is survived by a sister, Janice Wagner of Florida, nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late George, Bruce and Ralph Ames.
His Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 10 AM in the Charles Coelho Funeral Home, 151 Cross St. Central Falls. VISITATION, will be held Friday evening from 5 until 8 PM. Burial with Military Honors will be held at Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association 260 W, Exchange St. Prov. RI.
