Richard Waters, almost always referred to as “Rickey” passed away unexpectedly Saturday. Ricky was first and foremost a family man. There was nothing in his life that was more important than family and he lived everyday with a focus on family. Ricky was father to Brittany (24), Ricky Jr, (21) and Ethan (12). His children were the thing that made him most proud and would always have a picture to show you or a story to tell about their accomplishments. Ricky was also devoted to his Mother, Kathleen, and spent countless hours at her side. Ricky spent most of his career working in the textile industry and worked as a foreman and master mechanic, After work, he would spend time with his extended family, his friends at his favorite spot, The Hewitt Post, a place he also worked part time. Ricky was a sports fanatic and wouldn’t miss a Patriots game during which he could often be found shouting “yeah baby” in his best Austin Powers voice after his favorite team scored. Ricky was always the sharpest dressed in the room and took great pride in trying to put his best self forward. He found great joy in his Irish heritage and loved to wear a soft wool cap and don Kelly green whenever he had the chance. Ricky was a source of joy and light to those who knew him at his best. He was a true friend and would be there even at the smallest request. Spending time around Ricky meant that you were going to smile at some point during that encounter and all that knew him were truly lucky. Besides his children, Ricky is survived by his mother Kathleen McElroy Waters, brothers, Thomas, Bernard and James and sister Debra, his Aunts , Karen & Maureen and Uncles James and Jack. He also leaves behind his many nieces and nephews, whom he loved so much, Dillon, Tommie, Stephanie, Nicole, Brian, Kendra, Daniel and Melissa as well as his great nieces and nephews. Ricky also leaves behind his step mother Jeannine Waters. Ricky was the son of the late Thomas Waters and Brother to the late Kathleen Waters, Grandson to the late Lois and James McElroy. Ricky was loved by all who knew him and he will be missed deeply.
