Meredith A. (Cooke) O’Malley, 97, of North Smithfield Rhode Island, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family and friends at St. Antione Residence. She was born in Woonsocket Rhode Island, daughter of Madeline Barden and Arthur Cooke.
She was the wife of Honorable Michael V. O’Malley and they were married nearly 50 years before he passed away in 1997. Living most of her life in Central Falls, she was an operator and trainer for New England Telephone and Telegraph, a saleswoman and passionate volunteer. She was a lifelong communicant of Holy Trinity Church where she had been president of the PTA for many years, as well as a catechism instructor.
Meredith leaves behind her loving son David T. O’Malley of Riverside RI, and Thomas P. O’Malley and his wife Phoebe E. O’Malley of North Smithfield, RI. She was predeceased by her sons Dennis T. O’Malley, Glyn W. O’Malley and her loving daughter Gail E. Brady, wife of James T. Brady. She was the adoring Grandmother of Way O’Malley of Atlanta, GA, Evan O’Malley of Richmond, RI, Philip Brady of Whitman, MA, Sheila Brady of Millbury, MA and Aidan O’Malley of Boston, MA. Meredith was the proud Great-Grandmother of Parker Brady of Weymouth, MA.
She was an avid reader and world traveler, loved winning at BINGO as well as family vacations at the shore. Friends and family are cordially invited to honor and remember Meredith’s life through visitation Wednesday morning 10 am to noon at Charles Coelho Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Prayer Service and private burial at Cook Cemetery, Woonsocket, RI. In lieu of flowers please make contributions in her memory to the Arc of Blackstone Valley.
