Joaquim Placido, 87, formerly of High Street in Central Falls, entered into eternal life on Thursday at the Elmhurst Extended Care Facility in Providence after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Eva N. (Nobrega) Placido who predeceased him last December and father of the late Jacqueline Laires who passed away in April of 2015.
Joaquim was born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Anibal and Maria N. (Almeida) Placido. He had been employed at the former Holiday Liquors for 10 years, he owned and operated Woodlawn Liquors for 9 years and was a manger at the former Fair Lumber from 1976 until 1990 when he retired. He and his family were communicants of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland.
He leaves two sons, George A. and Joseph M. Placido of Central Falls and a daughter Rosemary Carreiro and her husband Nelson of Smithfield and a Grandson Jamie Carreiro.
His Funeral will be PRIVATE. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive Cumberland on WEDNESDAY, April 27 at 11 AM.
