Irene Lorette

Irene Lorette, 93, of Gretna VA. and formerly of Central Falls, peacefully entered into eternal life at the home of her daughter in Virginia.  She was born in Montreal Canada, a daughter of the late Henri “Tiger” and Marie (Roy) Brule-Thibodeau.

She had worked as a spinner in the booming textile industry here in RI as a young woman and was an avid ballroom dancer, where she met her future husband, the late Robert E. Lorette. She leaves behind a daughter, Laurie Allen, with whom she lived,  and two sons, Daniel Lorette of West Palm Beach, Fl. and Michael Lorette of Blackstone, MA. She was a wonderful mother and loved her children very much. She was a homemaker up until the 1970’s. As a single mother she went into private home health care for years, and then worked as the supervisor of housekeeping at the former Fogarty Memorial Hospital in Woonsocket. When she retired from that position she continued doing private care with her last position working as head of household for St. Joan of Arc Church in Cumberland where she loved taking care of “her” priests. She resided in Blackstone Falls Senior Living in Central Falls where she made many wonderful  and caring friends  and often volunteered at the church food pantry. Irene moved to Virginia to live with her daughter Laurie and her husband Patrick in 2009 where she could be taken care of until her passing. She loved to go shopping, antiquing, traveling, dancing, bowling and eating out. She was quite a fan of fashion and old couture and always represented herself with style and poise. She was witty, loving and a devout Catholic who will be missed by her children and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 AM in St. Mary’s Church, Pine St. Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. CALLING HOURS, MONDAY EVENING,  6 until 8 PM in the Charles Coelho Funeral Home, 151 Cross St. Central Falls. www.coelhofuneralhome.net
