Cristovao Medeiros

Cristovao Medeiros, 73, of No. Providence and formerly of Central Falls, passed away Monday at Miriam Hospital in Providence after being stricken at home. He was the devoted husband of Grinoalda (Furtado) Medeiros.

 He was born in Capelas, Ponta Delgarda, Portugal, a son of the late Jose and Maria (dosAnjos) Medeiros. Mr. Medeiros migrated to the United States in 1967 and settled in Central Falls. He had been employed as a floor supervisor at Tech Industries of Cumberland which was also formerly of Central Falls, for several years before retiring. Cristovao was an avid Soccer fan and when he was younger,  had played on  Complemos team  in Portugal. His favorite team was "Sporting de Portugal'. He also enjoyed fishing a great deal. While living in Portugal, he served in the Portuguese Army for 3 years.

 Besides his wife he leaves 2 daughters, Carolyn Bernier and her husband Roger of Cumberland and Christine Young and her husband Eric of Harrisville. He also leaves a son Jacinto "Jessie" Medeiros and his wife Laura of Glocester, RI, five Grandchildren, Erik and Sean Medeiros, Samantha Bernier, Adelina and Bryan Young. He was also the brother of Leonilda Restrepo of Central Falls, Fatima Andrade of Portugal, Luciano and Jose Duarte Medeiros both of Fall River, Humberto Medeiros of Canada and Abil Medeiros of Portugal, nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours, Wednesday evening from 5 until 8 PM in the Coelho Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on THURSDAY at 10 AM in the Funeral Home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and are welcome to sign the Guestbook.
